Quick Bio of Richard Cadell

Who Is Richard Cadell?

Richard Cadell is a British entertainer who became famous through his work with the beloved children’s character Sooty. Sooty, the silent yellow bear puppet, has been one of the most famous characters in British television since the 1950s. Richard took over the role from Matthew Corbett in 1998 and has been the main face of the Sooty franchise ever since.

Before joining the world of children’s television, Richard Cadell was already making a name for himself as a magician. He showed an interest in magic from a young age and won recognition for his performances while still a teenager. His skills eventually led him into television, where he combined comedy, puppetry, and magic.

Richard first appeared alongside Sooty in the 1990s and later became the official presenter of the franchise. Many people now know him as the modern face of Sooty, Sweep, and Soo.

Richard Cadell Career and Rise to Fame
